We all have those moments in life that are completely infuriating. Getting cut off in traffic, being undermined at work or dealing with a screaming child all have the ability to derail your good vibes and send you into an emotional tailspin.
Unfortunately, when you are mad it can become very easy for the anger to build momentum, and this is because of the Law of Attraction.
The Law of Attraction brings you more of what you are thinking and feeling about, so getting angry at work might lead to stubbing your toe on your desk, driving in total gridlock on your way home and later getting into a fight with your significant other.
Like attracts like, so although it is important to feel what you feel, it is also important to find a way to get back to a good place so that an angry moment doesn’t turn into an angry day.
Here are three quick techniques you can use in the midst of an angry moment to help diffuse tension and get back into a calm, relaxed and happy vibe:
1. The Picture Technique: Keep a picture nearby (in your wallet, purse or phone) of someone or something that makes you very, very happy. It could be a picture of your baby, your girlfriend, or your brand new car.
Anything that elicits strong, positive feelings from you. When you are heated or upset and need to cool off, pull out your picture to look at it and think about it for two minutes. The good vibes you get from observing the picture will help to override the negative feelings you got from the upsetting circumstance.
2. The Five Count Breath Technique: Whenever life’s upsetting moments come to pass, practice the five count breath. Immediately upon getting upset, draw in a big, slow breath for five seconds, hold it for five seconds, and then let it out for five seconds.
This action activates your parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for slowing your heart rate and calming you down. Practice this technique regularly and you will find that it becomes your automatic response to angry and upsetting situations.
3. The Funny Video Technique: When you are upset, pull out your smartphone or go to your computer and look up some funny YouTube videos. For a few good ones, check out the funny videos on this page. Laughter is a great way to release tension and raise your vibration.
Again, it’s easy for an angry moment to turn into an angry day. Anger, like every other emotion, works with the Law of Attraction. Whatever you are thinking and feeling you will receive more of from the universe.
Anger does serve a purpose, and so it is important to allow yourself to be angry when you need to be. However, when your anger isn’t serving you, try out one of these quick techniques to raise your vibration. You’ll feel better and you’ll get your day back on track quickly!
